Ella Doyle

Ella Doyle is a multidisciplinary artist from the Mornington Peninsula. Her works emerge from a deeply observational practice that celebrates the unguarded beauty of everyday life.

In her recent solo exhibition, 'Observations', Doyle harnessed nostalgia to render candid scenes of leisure and repose. Focusing on atmosphere and perspective, she captures the way bodies arrange themselves when freed from routine. From beachgoers reclining in languor to diners lingering over twilight drinks, each painting consecrates impromptu moments of restoration and connection. The series explores the subtle tension between the artist's gaze and the unsuspecting subject, ultimately questioning how composing passing scenes affects the stories unfolding within them.

Her practice moves fluidly between direct observation and photographic reference, incorporating both her own captured moments and those shared by others. When working from others’ photographs, she becomes both the painter and subject of images, allowing her to playfully appear in veiled self-portraits where the essentially solo work of the artist becomes a form of collaborative exchange.

A recent foray into live event painting has opened up a new area of exploration for Doyle. As an incidental observer positioned on the threshold of liminal spaces, she witnesses intimate behind-the-scenes moments whose beauty and quiet intensity is the focus of her upcoming body of work.

Ella holds a Bachelor of Communication (Design) from Monash University. Her works are held in corporate and private collections across Australia and the United Kingdom.
