Decorative and precious, ancient and new, taking aesthetic cues from its namesake, Amphora by Bolaji Teniola seeks to subvert the intentions of old amphorae.Moving away from a function-driven form, Amphora embraces the beauty of its up-cycled timber components. Amphora's voluminous form, achieved through hand-planned timber shavings, is crafted via an undemanding layering technique in which strands of timber are unfurled, pressed, and bound with an organic adhesive to create an opaque appearance that becomes translucent as light passes through.
